Denver Arts & Skills Center – $1500

Location: Denver, CO

DASC is committed to decreasing recidivism through an arts-based crime prevention program. DASC offers its programming in a building that is a workshop as well as a coffee shop that employs only ex-offenders and felons. DASC offers scholarships to ex-offenders who have the highest need for an 8-week transition into society program. Through College in Colorado’s: Own Your Future program, ex-offenders will develop a plan for life after prison. Participants will also work with a professional artist to convey their thoughts and feelings about social justice issues and to develop emotional intelligence, individual insight, and reflection.
