Another World is Possible Fund is supporting Atlantis ADAPT with funds for the Nursing Home/Petri Dish Exit Project- to meet the needs of two populations who are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. 1) People in nursing facilities that want out. 2) People who are experiencing homelessness that are interested in exploring work as a caregiver. ADAPT’s mission is to end the institutional bias by ensuring the right to live in Our Homes, Not Nursing Homes.
“This pandemic has shown that for seniors and people with disabilities, nursing homes and institutionalization means loss of rights, and loss of life. Our caregivers and attendants have also been massively impacted by COVID-19, and the need is growing for more personal attendant care. This project will help those who are looking to live independently, find employment and receive housing assistance.”
