Use of Funds: With the help of this fund, The Word continued a capacity-building project with a strategic consultant that has resulted in the ability to bring on 3 new staff members, each identifying from BIPOC communities, with intersectional representation in LGBTQ+ communities. This relief to a highly overstretch staff was essential to The Word’s continued ability to address emerging crisis needs and provide daily supports so that the literary arts can be used, as they always have been, as a space of innovation toward more equitable futures.
