Use of Funds: Spirit of the Sun will use these funds to address food insecurity within our community. Many of our families face disparities and barriers that make it difficult for them to provide nutritious food for their families, these disparities have been exacerbated by the pandemic. At Spirit of the Sun, we are addressing food deserts by implementing Indigenous agricultural food systems and by creating healthy and culturally appropriate CSA food shares. We aim to rebuild Indigenous gardens to grow medicines and cultivate a diet that is based on traditional methods. With the funds we will be able establish a seed library and a seed vault that is composed of Indigenous seeds to help preserve heirloom seeds. We are actively working with Frontline Farming and Ekar Farms to help with production and distribution with our efforts.
