Mission: IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) Stages (IDEAs) is a grassroots advocacy and resource organization centering the needs of theater makers who are BIPoC, WoC, LGBTQIA+, Blind, Deaf/Hard of hearing, living with disabilities, and/or neurodiversity. We galvanize theater-makers to take demonstrable action toward inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.
We envision the performing arts regularly celebrating and amplifying the voices, stories, talents, and abilities of all people. We drive to see a rich landscape of these diverse talents in the boardroom, the producer’s seat, the director’s chair, the playwright’s pen, the stage, the audience, from the decision’s process, and beyond. This rich landscape of diverse voices includes, but is not limited to Global Majority/BIPoC, WoC, LGBTQIA+, Blind, Deaf/Hard of hearing, those living with disabilities and who are differently abled, neurodiverse, and other sidelined and underserved communities.
IDEAs fosters inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility to celebrate all voices in theatre. We provide training, resources, and accountability, empowering theatre artists to amplify the voices, stories, talents, and abilities of all people, especially those overlooked in traditional theatrical structures. Our job isn’t through until all people feel welcome in the theatre–in leadership, backstage, onstage, and in the audience.
