Big Hair, Bigger Dreams is a non-profit organization that helps African American high school girls realize their potential by eliminating the barriers to their dreams.Their mission is to offer African American high school girls’ access to the skills and experiences needed to surmount the educational and economic barriers in their immediate lives and grow to become socially just adult leaders who create change in the world. BHBD’s vision is to provide girls of color with opportunities today to help them accomplish their dreams tomorrow. They understand that youth development is not complete unless it is well-rounded and holistic. Thus, they have carefully planned curriculums that allow girls to emerge from BHBD experiences with enhanced academic, personal, and leadership awareness. Big Hair, Bigger Dreams sits at the cross-section of school and life; theory and practice. They believe in a holistic approach, hands-on instruction, creating access, and changing the world, one girl at a time!
