The Community Transit Coalition is a group of organizations and individuals seeking increased transit funding and transit expansions in the Pikes Peak Region. Their team recognizes the value of public transportation in allowing people access to employment, health care, civic engagement, and the community. They also believe that a healthy transit system encourages economic growth and vitality by increasing access to businesses, promoting infill, and providing broader access to the labor market.
Campaigns & Current Work:
– Ballot Initiative: partnering with Colorado Public Interest Group to strategize for a ballot initiative that supports public transportation.
– Mapping Project: collecting data from participants to see where they currently live and the places that they would like to travel via public transportation.
– “Transit Matters” Rally: hosting rallies and public meetings to raise awareness, and advocate for stronger public transit funding in the Colorado Springs 2016 Budget.
